Voter ID (EPIC)
The Voter ID or Elector Photo Identity Card (EPIC) lets Indian citizens aged 18 and above vote. Registration, correction and e-EPIC download are free.

Documents to keep ready
- Passport size photo
- Proof of age, e.g. birth certificate, Class 10 certificate or Aadhaar
- Proof of address, e.g. Aadhaar, bank passbook or utility bill
- Aadhaar number (optional)
How to apply
- Open voters.eci.gov.in or the Voter Helpline app
- Sign up with your mobile number
- Fill Form 6 for new registration or Form 8 for correction or shifting
- Upload photo and documents and submit
- A Booth Level Officer (BLO) may visit to verify
- Track status and download e-EPIC once approved
Good to know
- You can apply from age 17. Registration takes effect from the qualifying date after you turn 18
- Qualifying dates are 1 January, 1 April, 1 July and 1 October
- Use Form 8 to shift to a new constituency, not a fresh Form 6
- All services are free, ignore anyone asking money for a voter card
